Date: 16 April 2026 15:00h - 16:45h CEST (online only)#

Members of Academia Europaea are invited to join the online launch event of the EASAC Energy Programme’s new Commentary on “Energy System Integration". This new EASAC Publication will be released on the EASAC Website on the day of the launch event, 16 April 2026. EASAC Commentaries build on earlier EASAC work, linking established science-based recommendations with new (policy) developments. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in producing this commentary, especially the EASAC Energy Steering Panel members for their active involvement.

Invitation to online launch event of new EASAC Commentary on “Energy System Integration: Opportunities, challenges, barriers, and recommendations for policy-makers":#

As Europe grapples with the dual challenge of an industrial crisis and the fallout from rising geopolitical tensions worldwide, including the war in Iran, the need for robust energy policies has never been more urgent. Our new Commentary on Energy System Integration offers evidence-based insights into how integrating electricity, heat, and green gases across industry, buildings and transport (with onsite production, storage and digitalisation) helps reduce dependencies, keep energy prices in check, and bolster industrial competitiveness.

With debates in Brussels intensifying over how to mitigate the impact of soaring energy prices, affordability, security and investment priorities, the Commentary provides a timely roadmap for action in the months ahead. Join us to explore how best to navigate energy policies in these turbulent times.

This event is open to policymakers, scientists, industry stakeholders, and the broader public interested in energy systems and security.
