This SAPEA
workshop will examine how growing political, financial, and societal pressures affect the provision of science advice, including its legitimacy and credibility. These pressures influence not only advisory processes, but also who participates, whose expertise is recognised, and the conditions under which experts contribute. Participants will be invited to reflect on the tension between the increasing expectation that science advice draw on diverse expertise to address complex challenges and the reality that geopolitical and other pressures may be narrowing the range of voices involved.
The workshop will bring together academics and science-policy practitioners to exchange experiences, discuss challenges, and identify practical approaches for strengthening inclusive, resilient, and trustworthy science advice systems.
The workshop forms part of a three-day programme of events in Warsaw, Poland, which also includes meetings of ENYA
and the YASAS General Assembly, as well as the ALLEA Public Conference and General Assembly.
