Gilles de Van - Biography#

Gilles Van taught Italian literature and history of the opera at the University of Paris III. He published numerous studies of Italian opera, Handel and Puccini. His works on Verdi constitute seminal studies of the composer.

He is considered one of the best French experts on Italian bel canto.
