Theoretical approaches often use mathematical techniques and complex modelling concepts. Methodological approaches employed include micro and macro econometric data analysis and experiments in the laboratory and also field studies. The disciplines involved often engage in concrete policy advisory activities to support evidence-based policy making. The major research outlets are peer-reviewed international journals where research articles are published, to a lower degree scientists publish in collected volumes or write books. Dissemination strategies involve public contributions to the media. Recent topics covered among others are migration and identity; financial markets; regional economics; and climate change.
