Moiré - Twistronics workshop 2021#

Date: August 9 - August 13, 2021
Location: On-line event run by National Graphene Institute at the University of Manchester & Tomas Young Centre at Imperial College London

When atomically thin crystals, known as 2D materials, are placed on top of each, a periodic moiré pattern emerge, with the period dependent on the twist angle and lattice mismatch between the crystals. This periodic pattern acts as a superlattice on electrons in such structures introducing new fascinating properties: flat electronic bands, metal-insulator transitions, moiré excitons or superconductivity, that can be tuned and controlled through the twist angle. The on-line Moiré-Twistronics workshop brings together experimentalists and theorists who work on this quickly growing field and aims to identify new challenges and directions with the ultimate goal of harnessing these novel materials in a new generation of quantum devices for information processing, optoelectronics or sensing. The registration and abstract submission for the participation with on-line posters is open for all interested parties and participation is free of charge. Registered participants will get zoom link for the meeting shortly before the meeting starts (different links on each day).

The registration deadline is August 2, 2021.

The workshop is endorsed by Academia Europaea and Academy members are cordially invited to attend the workshop!#
