!!Chengqing Zong - Biography

Chengqing Zong received his Ph.D. from the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), in March 1998. From May 1998 to April 2000, he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the National Laboratory of Pattern Recognition (NLPR), Institute of Automation, CAS. After completing his postdoctoral program, he has continued his work at NLPR to the present. From 2006 to 2014, he served as deputy director of NLPR. He is currently a professor at the Institute of Automation, CAS. \\

His research interests include fundamental research in computational linguistics, natural language processing (NLP), and cognitive language computing. As a principal investigator, he has led more than 10 projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Key Research and Development Program of China, and others. He has authored or co-authored six books and more than 200 journal and conference papers. He serves as the President of the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL) in 2025, and he was the President of the Asian Federation on Natural Language Processing (AFNLP) from 2019 to 2021. He is also a member of the International Committee on Computational Linguistics (ICCL). He served as Program Committee Co-Chair for top-tier international conferences such as ACL 2015 and COLING 2020, and as General Conference Chair for ACL 2021. He was a member of the editorial board for the journal IEEE Intelligent Systems from August 2009 to November 2023, and served as Associate Editor for ACM TALLIP from July 2010 to December 2022. \\

For his outstanding contributions to machine translation and text sentiment analysis, he was elected as ACL Fellow, IEEE Fellow, and Fellow of other distinguished organizations.\\
