Nuala Zahedieh read for her undergraduate degree in Economic History at the London Scholl of Economics where she subsequently studied for a Masters Degree and then a PH.D. in Economic History.

After a three-year stint as a research fellow at the LSE she was appointed in 1990 to a Lectureship at the University of Edinburgh where she has moved steadily up the ranks until she was appointed to a Professorship in Economic History in 2017. Her time at Edinburgh has been punctuated by fellowships at prestigious institutions. There are few scholars in her area with such a diverse range of publications, each based on meticulous painstaking research, and each placed with a publisher of the highest rank. Nuala Zahedieh is, this year, completing a major study on the early history  of Jamaica as a British to be published by Cambridge University Press under the title, Silver, Sugar and Slaves: Jamaica and the Atlantic Economy, 1655-1739.\\ \\
