Dr. Chen Wang is the Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, President of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, Director of the National Center for Respiratory Medicine, as well as a member of the WHO Expert Advisory Panel for Management of Noncommunicable Diseases. In addition, he is a commissioner of The Lancet COVID-19 Commission. Furthermore, he is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and an international member of the National Academy of Medicine. Dr. Wang has over 30 years of experience and specialties in pulmonary and critical care medicine in addition to conducting clinical and basic research for complex conditions in respiratory medicine. His areas of research also include public health, health policy, medical education, health system reform and medical technology innovation system. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Wang led the design and implementation of crucial measures in China, including the formulation of clinical guidelines, proposal of the concept of “Fangcang shelter hospitals” and conduction of clinical trials to evaluate the effectiveness of Lopinavir-Ritonavir and Remdesivir in COVID-19 patients. Dr. Wang has published more than 250 articles in international medical journals, including New England Journal of Medicine and The Lancet. He has been successively honored with WHO’s Outstanding Contribution Award for Tobacco Control, the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation’s Scientific and Technological Progress Award, as well as the First and Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.\\ \\
