Dorothea Wagner is a full professor for informatics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Her research interests include design and analysis of algorithms and algorithm engineering, graph algorithms, computational geometry and discrete optimization, particularly applied to transportation systems, network analysis,  data mining and visualization.
\\ \\
She was coordinator of the DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) priority program SPP 1126 on "Algorithmics of Large and Complex Networks, joint initiator of the DFG priority program 1307 on "Algorithm Engineering" and member of the DFG research training group GK 1194 on "Self-organizing Sensor-Actuator-Networks". She was coordinator of the EU RTN AMORE and is resp. was participant of the EU FET project COSIN, EU IST project DELIS, the EU STREP projects CREEN, ARRIVAL and EU IST project eCompass.

Among other activities for the scientific community she is vice president of the DFG, speaker of the scientific advisory board of IBFI Schloss Dagstuhl – Leibniz Center for Informatics and member of the Committee for the Allocation of the Alexander von Humboldt Research Awards. She was speaker of the DFG evaluation committee for computer science,  chairperson of the selection committee for the best dissertation award of the GI, member of the core group of the Standing Committee for Physical and Engineering Sciences (PESC) of the ESF and member of the EATCS Council(European Association for Theoretical Computer Science).

She is Editor in Chief of JDA (Journal on Discrete Algorithms) and of OASIcs (OpenAccess Series in Informatics), member of the editorial board of JGAA (Journal of Graph Algorithms and Applications), of CGTA (Computational Geometry: Theory and Applications) and of "Leitfäden der Informatik", B. G. Teubner and EPTCS (Electronic Proceedings in Theoretical Computer Science). She was a member of more than 50 PCs of international conferences and organizer of more than ten Dagstuhl seminars.

Dorothea Wagner obtained her diploma and doctoral degrees in mathematics from RWTH Aachen in 1983 and 1986 respectively, and 1992 the Habilitation degree from TU Berlin.
