Professor of humanities, expert in law and philosophy. LLM, Jagiellonian University, Krakow (1984); MPhil, Jagiellonian University (1986); PhD (LLD), Faculty of Law and Administration, Jagiellonian University (1994);  2001 – Habilitation, Faculty of Law and Administration, Jagiellonian University; 2003 – Associate Professor of the Jagiellonian University; 2006 – State (Presidential) Professor; 2009 – Full (ordinary) Professor of the JU. Head of Section Political Philosophy, Jagiellonian University and head of Section Theory and Philosophy of Politics, Academy Ignatianum in Krakow. Dean of the Faculty of International and Political Studies, Jagiellonian University (since 2008). Editor-in-chief serial publication “Societas” (since 2006), and “Politeja. Journal of the Faculty of International and Political Studies” (since 2004). Director of the Institute of Human Rights in Oświęcim, and Editor of "Bulletin of the Institute of Human Rights in Oświęcim" (2001-2003). PhD supervisor (13 PhDs awarded;  15 PhD candidate works in progress), and MA supervisor,  approx. 500 MA theses; 2001-2013.
