Kazimierz M. Slomczynski is Professor at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) and Emeritus Professor at the Department of Sociology, The Ohio State University (OSU). He directs the Cross-National Studies: Interdisciplinary Research and Training Program (CONSIRT) of the OSU and PAN. In the past, he acted as a visiting professor Cornell University, Osaka University, Tokyo University, Nankai University, and John Hopkins University, and a visiting scholar at the National Institute of Mental Health, Bethesda, Maryland.

He authored/co-authored several books, including Dynamics of Class and Stratification in Poland (CEU Press, 2018), Open for Business (2005), Social Structure and Self-Direction (1990, 2006), and edited/co-edited a number of volumes, Dynamics of Social Structure (2016), Social Inequality and the Life Course (2016), Democratic Values and Protest Behavior (2016), and National and European? Polish Political Elite in Comparative Perspective (2010), among others.

His work was published in leading sociological journals, such as American Sociological Review, American Journal of Sociology, European Sociological Review, Social Forces, Party Politics, and Survey Research Methods. He is a co-principal investigator of research projects funded by the US National Science Foundation (Survey Data Recycling) and principal investigator of the Polish Panel Survey, granted by the (Polish) National Science Centre.

He teaches at the Graduate School for Social Research at the Polish Academy of Sciences. In his career, he advised over 20 doctoral students, and several post-doctoral and early-stage researchers. He served on a number of professional organizations and boards of social science journals.\\ \\
