Federico Rosei received Laurea (1996) and PhD (2001) degrees from University of Rome I. He is Professor and Director of the Centre for Energy, Materials and Telecommunications of INRS in Varennes (QC) Canada and holds the UNESCO Chair in Materials and Technologies for Energy Conversion, Saving and Storage.

He is Fellow of: the Royal Society of Canada, the European Academy of Science, the American Physical Society, the Optical Society of America, the Mexican Academy of Engineering, the African Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, SPIE, the Canadian Academy of Engineering, ASM International, the Engineering Institute of Canada, the Institute of Physics, the Institute of Engineering & Technology, the Institute of Materials, Metallurgy & Mining, Honorary Fellow of the Chinese Chemical Society and Senior Member IEEE.

He received many awards, including a Bessel Award (von Humboldt Foundation 2011), the Rutherford Medal in Chemistry (Royal Society of Canada 2011), the Herzberg Medal (Canadian Association of Physics 2013), the Brian Ives Lectureship (ASM International 2013), the Award of Excellence in Materials Chemistry (Canadian Society for Chemistry 2014), the NSERC EWR Steacie Fellowship (2014), the Vasconcelos Award for Education (World Cultural Council 2014), IEEE NTC Distinguished Lecturer 2015, the Lash Miller Award (ECS 2015), the Chang Jiang Scholar Award (China 2015), the Khwarizmi International Award (Iran 2015), the Recognition for Excellence in Leadership (AVS 2015), the Selby Fellowship (Australian Academy of Science 2016) and the Polanyi Award (Canadian Society for Chemistry 2016).
