__Personal History:__

*1978-1983: Research Engineer in Ecole des Mines, one of the leading Engineering school in France. Specialization in fracture mechanics mainly applied to the nuclear power plants
**Model for the fracture of steels used in the nuclear industry: development of a finite element software
**Many publications on the so-called “local approach” with co-workers using  F.M.Beremin as a group name, with Prof. A.Pineau
*1983- 1984: Post-doctorate in the University of Tokyo in the laboratory of professor Teruo Kishi. 
**Use of acoustic emission to characterize the fracture of materials: ceramics and aluminum.
**Work with Nippon Kokkan on the break ring of horizontal continuous caster

*1984-1990: Research director of Ecole des Mines (18 Different labs)
**Building of a scientific policy in a much decentralized structure with very different subjects (material sciences, earth sciences, computer sciences, human sciences, etc…)

*1991-1993: Usinor. R&D director of Usinor for relationship with universities, computer simulation, economic evaluation of projects
**following the merger of Usinor and Sacilor, implementation of a common methodology to evaluate projects
**restructuring of the department of the central laboratory on in use-properties of products
**implementing a group policy on numerical simulation

*1993-1998: scientific and technical director of IRSID the central laboratory of Usinor.
**Closing two laboratories in Saint-Germain en Laye and Saint Etienne. Moving all the people and subjects to Metz.
**Building confident relationships with the business units.
**Building the long term portfolio of the group and follow of  projects.
**Implementing the quality insurance in the lab.

*1999- 2001: scientific director of Usinor
**During the restructuring of R&D following the sale of the long product  BU and the take over of Cockerill-sambre: building of the new common research program
**Establishing a scientific council for the company.
**Evaluation of the R&D efficiency
**Directly following all long term projects

*2002-2003: scientific director of Arcelor
**Following the merger with Arbed and Aceralia, with the new R&D director , definition of the new organization and program.
**Organizing University relationships and search for subsidies with special effort towards European Community.
**Directly following all long term projects

*2003-2005: In Tokyo, In charge of implementing the global strategic alliance between NSC and Arcelor
**Mainly the automotive market: provide our customers with world-wide lists of  “equivalent products” 
**But other common subjects in R&D, environment, purchasing, etc.
**Secretary of the scientific council of arcelor.

*2006-2007: Scientific Director of Arcelor in charge of internationalization of R&D.
**Studies to establish a laboratory in Belo Horizonte (Brazil) and in   Qing Dao (China)
**Establishing University relationships outside Europe and subsidizing bodies relations, scientific committee, etc.

*Since 2007: scientific Advisor ArcelorMittal Global R&D
**In charge of all long term projects of ArcelorMittal.
