Zbigniew W. Kundzewicz, born 4 Dec. 1950, is a graduate of the Warsaw University of Technology. He holds doctorate and habilitation degrees from the Institute of Geophysics (Pol. Acad. Sci.), Warsaw, Poland. He is a life-long Professor of Earth Sciences and a Corresponding Member of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He leads the Climate and Water Resources Department in the Institute for Agricultural and Forest Environment (Pol. Acad. Sci.) in Poznan, Poland. He has spent more than 12 years abroad, with longest scientific stays at Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the University of Karlsruhe. He has been a guest professor in the Adam Mickiewicz University in PoznaƄ, Poland. He has participated in many national and international research projects, including 6 projects within the EU Framework Programmes. He has served as either a project leader or work package leader in 12 projects in 2006-2017. He has recently co-ordinated 2 bi-national projects (Polish-Swiss and Polish-Norwegian), respectively, FLORIST (Flood risk on the northern foothills of the Tatra Mountains), that ended in September 2016 and CHASE-PL (Climate change impact assessment for selected sectors in Poland) that ended in April 2017. He is a member of the Expert Advisory Board of the ANYWHERE project in Horizon 2020.

His publication record exceeds 500 source items (therein 14 books), great majority of which have been co-authored with foreign scientists. In Poland, bibliometric indices have only become important quite recently, yet Prof. Kundzewicz has been catching up, gathering more than 600 citations per year in 2015 and 2016 (ISI) and his H-index is equal to 32. He has been invited to deliver plenary keynote lectures at many prestigious scientific conferences.\\ \\
