Michael Koutsilieris is an Endocrinologist and Professor of Medicine at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).\\
\\
Michael Koutsilieris received his MD degree from NKUA in 1980 and completed postgraduate studies and a PhD at McGill University (Montreal, Canada), Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism. His doctoral research focused on endocrine oncology and bone metastasis in prostate cancer. He served as Research and Clinical Fellow at the Royal Victoria Hospital (McGill), Research Associate at the University of Sherbrooke, and subsequently Assistant, Associate and Full Professor at Laval University, Quebec. He holds medical licenses in both Canada and Greece.\\
\\
Since 1997, he has been Professor of Physiology at the Medical School of NKUA, where he served as Director of the Physiology Laboratory (2004–2020) and twice as Director of the Department of Basic Medical Sciences. He was Adjunct Professor at Laval University and at the European University of Cyprus. From 2020 to 2024, he was appointed by the Greek Ministry of Education as President of the Board of the State Scholarship Foundation of Greece.\\

Michael Koutsilieris has served on several national and international academic and institutional bodies, including the Alexander Fleming Biomedical Sciences Research Center, the National Council for Medical Deontology, and the Academic Council of KEELE-Greece University. He has acted as external evaluator for major research councils in Europe and North America.\\
\\
Michael Koutsilieris is the founder of the Hellenic Physiological Society (former President), Exercise is Medicine–Greece, and the Institute of Applied Physiology and Exercise in Medicine. He has received numerous scientific and civic distinctions, including awards from the Academy of Athens, Doctor Honoris Causa degrees, Distinguished Fellow titles, and the Hippocrates Award.\\

Michael Koutsilieris serves or has served as editorial board member and reviewer for numerous international scientific journals and is an active member of many international scientific societies in endocrinology, oncology, physiology, and medical education.\\
