Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Kai A. Konrad is Director at the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance and a Scientific Member of the Max Planck Society. From 1994 to 2009 he was a university professor in the Department of Economics at the Free University of Berlin and from 2001 to 2009 simultaneously Director at the WZB - Social Science Research Center Berlin. He is a member of the German National Academy of Sciences - Leopoldina and four other scientific academies. From 2007 to 2018, he was Co-Editor of the Journal of Public Economics. He has been a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Federal Ministry of Finance since 1999 and was its chairman from 2011 to 2014. In 2023, he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Basel.
