Daniel Z. Kadar is Ordinary Member of Academia Europaea. He also holds the higher doctorates of Doctor of Science (DSc; Hungarian Academy of Sciences, 2025) and Doctor of Letters (D.Litt, 2015, UK), along with his PhD degree (2006, Chinese linguistics). He is also Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK. He is currently Research Professor and Chair of Research Group at the ELTE Research Centre for Linguistics. He is also Chair Professor and International Director of Research Centre at  Dalian University of Foreign Languages, China, and Professor of English Linguistics at the University of Maribor, Slovenia. He is also Vising Professor at Hellenic American University, USA/Greece.

He is author/editor of many, published with leading academic publishers such as Cambridge University Press. He has also published a large number of research papers in high-impact academic journals. Along with his native Hungarian, he is a fluent speaker of Chinese, Japanese and English. He has research interest in East Asian languages and related research, cross-cultural and intercultural pragmatics, hlinguistic politeness, interactional rituals and other areas. His most recent books include Language and Politics (with Juliane House, Cambridge University Press, 2025) and Ritual and Language (Cambridge University Press, 2025). He is Co-Editor in Chief of the Q1 journal Contrastive Pragmatics – A Cross-Disciplinary Journal (Brill Publishers) and founding editor of East Asian Pragmatics (Tortonto University Press).\\ \\
