In a murine cigarette smoke (CS) model of COPD, we studied the importance of chemokine-like ChemR23 for the induction and resolution of inflammation in CS-exposed lungs. Our data support a role for ChemR23 in directing innate and adaptive immune cells in CS-exposed lungs.\\

This is one of the first descriptions of a mouse model where allergen and cigarette smoke were shown to interact at the level of inflammation. It demonstrates that by combining smoke and allergen, the inflammation in the airways changes in a qualitative and quantitative way. It helps in understanding the effect of cigarette smoking in patients with asthma.\\

This European task force summarizes the state of the art of bronchoprovocation by indirect bronchoconstrictor (such as exercise, cold air, tachykinins, adenosine). It is the end result of clinical and experimental work starting in the eighties. The description of the concept of indirect bronchial responsiveness originated  from our work in rats on tachykinin- and adenosine-induced bronchoconstriction and from provocation studies performed in patients with asthma.
