!!David Holcman - Curriculum vitae
\\
David Holcman is a senior interdisciplinary scientist whose career integrates theoretical insight, data-driven innovation and clinical translation. As Director of Research at the CNRS and group leader at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris, he leads a dynamic, 20-member team at the forefront of computational neuroscience, predictive medicine and applied mathematics. He is regular visiting Professor visitor at the University of Cambridge and Fellow of the Churchill College. He has founded the MedTech company SignalMed+ to bring predictive algorithms into patient care.\\
\\
__Research Vision & Cross-Disciplinary Excellence__\\
\\
__Applied Mathematics:__ He devised novel stochastic frameworks—mean first-passage-time models, polymer models, single particle trajectory analysis and spectral analysis tools—that provide quantitative descriptions of complex biological processes from chromatin folding to synaptic transmission.\\
\\
__Neuroscience:__ By uniting biophysical simulations with statistical physics and data-driven analytics, he has uncovered how sub-micron events—such as voltage and calcium nanodomain fluxes, receptor trafficking and chromatin remodeling—coordinate to shape neuronal excitability, synaptic plasticity and emergent network dynamics. His models have been applied to interpret in vivo electrophysiological and fluoresence recordings, elucidate mechanisms of molecular trafficking inside the endoplasmic reticulum, dendritic spines or neuron-glial interactions. \\
\\
__Data Science & Machine Learning:__ using hidden pattern extracted from high-dimensional EEG parameter space, he built end-to-end pipelines combining signal processing, feature extraction and predictive deep-learning models for real-time monitoring of anesthesia depth and early detection of coma recovery.\\
\\
Predictive Medicine:__ Translating foundational models into practice, his patented algorithms for anesthesia management and coma __prognosis have been validated in clinical collaborations and are now being commercialized through SignalMed+.\\
\\
__Academic & Entrepreneurial Leadership__\\
\\
__CNRS & ENS Paris:__ As Director of Research (CNRS Interdisciplinary Science Division) and Group Leader (Data Modeling, Applied Mathematics & Computational Biology at ENS), he oversees a diverse team of researchers, PhD candidates, postdoctoral fellows and interns. He fosters a collaborative culture that spans theory, computation, data analysis, simulation and statistical clinical translation.\\
\\
__SignalMed+:__ Co-founder and CSO of this MedTech start-up, Holcman directs R&D efforts to implement his lab’s EEG-based predictive algorithms in hospital settings. Under his guidance, SignalMed+ has forged partnerships with major neurology and anesthesiology centers across Europe and USA.\\
\\
__Scientific Service:__ He serves as an ERC reviewer, was President of the ANR’s “Mathematics & Life Sciences” section (2017–2019), and sits on editorial boards of Entropy, the Journal of Mathematical Neuroscience and Frontiers in Biophysics, shaping research priorities at national and European levels.\\
\\
