Georges Hadziioannou is Professor of chemistry at the University of Bordeaux 1 since 2009.

He was professor at the University Louis-Pasteur (ULP) Strasbourg (France), Director of the European Engineering School of Chemistry, Polymers and Materials (ECPM) of ULP, and Director of the "Laboratoire d'Ingéniérie des Polymères pour les Hautes Technologies" until 2008. 
\\ \\
His research area covers semi-conducting polymers, nanostructured polymer materials, polymer materials for data storage, plastic electronics - molecular electronics and systems thereof. 
\\ \\
He received his Master's degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) in 1975 and his Doctorate in Physical Sciences from the University Louis-Pasteur of Strasbourg in 1980. Between 1980 and 1982, he was associate researcher at the Polymer Science and Engineering Department of University of Massachusetts. In 1982 he became research staff member of IBM Almaden Research Laboratory (California) where he directed the group "Surface and Interface Dynamics" from 1986 until 1989. Between 1985 and 1989 he was simultaneously Industrial Research Fellow of National Institute for Science and Technology (NIST), Washington (D.C.) and consulting professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering at Stanford University (California).

From 1989 until 2001 he was Professor at the University of Groningen (Netherlands), where he directed the Materials Science Center (1997 - 2000) now Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials. Under his scientific direction, the MSC was elected by the Dutch Ministry of Education as being one of the six excellence centers of the country. From 1996 until 2000, he was President of the Committee of the National School of Polymer Research and Technology (PTN) of the Netherlands. Between 1997 and 2002, he was a member of the scientific board of the Foundation for Research and Technology of Greece (FORTH). Until 2004, he was a member of the editorial board of ChemPhysChem. In 1993, he was elected fellow of the American Physical Society. In 1998, he received the Humboldt Research Award.

In 2007, he received the Süe Award from the French Chemistry Association (SFC)

In 2008, he was appointed __senior member of the "Institut Universitaire de France" to the chair of Physical chemistry of Polymers__.

He is the author of more than 300 publications (__H = 51__), 18 patents, and more than 100 invited conferences since 1994 ; he directed 39 PhD's and hosted in his laboratory more than 50 post-docs and invited professors.

He was co-founder of 2 start-ups: "__Polymer Service Center__", for assisting small and medium-size companies of Science Park in Groningen (NL), and "__Papyron__", for developing innovative technology for electronic paper (the patents has been acquired by Stork B.V., NL).
