Born in Lainate, Italy, 1 March 1946, Ghezzi got his Dr. Eng. degree from Politecnico di Milano in 1969, where he is now a Professor and Chair of Software Engineering. He has been the Rector's delegate for research, member of the Academic Senate and of the Board of Governors, and Department Chair. \\
\\
He held past temporary positions at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Padova, ESLAI-Argentina. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at the University of Lugano.\\
\\
In 2011 he was nominated President of Informatics Europe. He is a member of the Board of ACM Europe and is past member of the ACM Council. He has been on several International committees, such as:\\

He has been the Editor in Chief and member of the Editorial Board of several prestigious journals; Program Chair, General Chair and keynote speaker of several international flagship conferences.

Ghezzi’s research has been focusing on software engineering and programming languages. Currently, he is especially interested in methods and tools to improve dependability of adaptable and evolvable distributed applications, such as service-oriented architectures and ubiquitous/pervasive computer applications.
