Marco Fantuzzi studied at the University of Bologna the "Humanities, Classical Curriculum" concluded with the "laurea" (BA) summa cum laude in 1979. He moved to the University of Pisa with a Fellowship for Graduate Studies (1984- 1986) before taking up a lectureship in Ancient Greek Literature at the University of Trento (1986-1993). He taught at the University of Florence as Associate Professor of Ancient Greek Literature (1993-2000) and as Professor of Ancient Greek Literature at the University of Macerata (2000-2017). From 2006 to 2015 he has been Visiting Professor of Greek at Columbia University. From September 2017 he teaches at the University of Roehampton, London as Professor of Classics. He was Member of the School of Historical Studies, Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton (Fall 2012 and Summer 2013), Visiting Research Fellow at the Seeger Center for Hellenic Studies, Princeton University (2017), Margo Tytus Fellow at the University of Cincinnati (2006), Visiting Fellow of Wolfson College, Cambridge, UK (2007) and New Hall, Cambridge, UK (2002-2003), and Visiting Research Fellow of the Department of Classics, King's College, London (1997-1998). Since Spring 2018 he is Fellow of Higher Education Academy, UK. In February 2022 he has been awarded a fellowship from the Loeb Classical library Foundation for the Fall term of 2022/2023. He has also been the recipient of a major Research Grant (COFIN/PRIN) from the Italian Ministry of Education and Research in the academic years 2001-2007. He has been external evaluator of major research grant applications for Research Agencies in Greece, Italy, and the Netherlands.
