Józef Dulak is a professor and head of the Department of Medical Biotechnology at the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland, and currently also the vice-president of the Committee of Biotechnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. \\

His work was instrumental in elucidating the crucial role of Nrf2-HO-1- microRNAs pathways in regulation of numerous reparative and regenerative processes in non-communicable acquired (cardiovascular disease and cancer) and inherited diseases (Duchenne muscular dystrophy).  \\
\\
Co-author of more than 270 articles cited more than 10,000  times (without auto citations) and his h-index is 55. He is among the top 2% of cited researchers in the world (elsevier.digitalcommonsdata.com). He is also a co-inventor of one patent (in the UE and USA) on new modes of mobilization of hematopoietic stem cells. Prof. Dulak obtained numerous grants (more than 13 million Euro in the last 10 years), including (twice) the most prestigious national grant Maestro from the National Science Centre and the European projects. He has been invited more than 100 times to give talks at the international conferences and foreign universities. Among others, he was in 2010 the visiting professor of the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science and the visiting professor at University of Orleans in France in 2008/2009 and in 2013. \\

He is a member of the editorial board of five reputed international journals and has been invited as the member of the panels and the reviewer for numerous funding agencies, including the ERC, EU Framework Programs (Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe), European Science Foundation, the Wellcome Trust, Swiss National Science Foundation \\

Between 2013 and 2017 (two terms) he was the president of the European Vascular Biology Organisation (EVBO). He has been the coordinator of the International Associated Laboratory (LIA – Laboratoire International Associe), supported by CNRS (France) and the Jagiellonian University (2013–2016; 2017–2020). He was the member of the scientific committee of the Innovative Medicines Initiative in Brussels (2009-2013).  He is the Fellow (elected) of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC), professional member of American Heart Association, International Society for Stem Cell Research.\\ \\
