Roberto Casati is a senior researcher with the French Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and a Directeur d'Etudes of EHESS. He studied at the University of Milan, Italy (PhD, 1992), and the University of Geneva, Switzerland (PhD, 1991). He taught at the Ecole Normale Supérieure and at several other universities; most recently he has been visiting professor or visiting scholar at the Università IUAV, Venice, the University of Turin, Columbia University, and Dartmouth College. He has worked on various research projects on metaphysics and the philosophy of perception. Beside publishing nine academic books, he has research articles in journals such as Analysis, Proceedings of the Aristotelian Society, Studia Leibnitiana, Journal of Aesthetics and Art Criticism, Perception, Trends in Cognitive Science, Journal of Visual Language and Computing, Dialectica, Australasian Journal of Philosophy, Philosophical Studies, Philosophical Psychology, Behavioral and Brain Sciences. He is the recipient of prizes and grants from several institutions, including CNRS, MENRT, and the European Commission. He is co-founder and co-editor of the Review of Philosophy and Psychology (Springer).  He was responsible, for Institut J. Nicod, of the Enactive Network of Excellence (IST-2002-002114). He has been an evaluator for the VI Framework Programme of the European Commission, the European Science Foundation, and national research institutions of France and Italy. He organized many national and international conferences in both philosophy and cognitive science. He has been active in popularizing philosophy, publishing a book (Semplicità insormontabili, with A.Varzi) that was translated into seven languages and adapted for theater, and publishing over 250 short philosophical articles in the Italian daily IlSole/24Ore. He has professional competence in drawing and design. His next research project is on cognitive artefacts and wayfinding. He completed in 2017 a Transat Retour on a Challenge 67 sailboat. In 2018 he will take up the direction of Institut Nicod.\\ \\
