Bakke has a distinguished career in reconstructing past climates and environments, pioneering new methods for estimating glacier size, precipitation, atmospheric patterns. He has led field work in some of the most inaccessible areas on Earth, encompassing both hemispheres and the Himalayas.  \\
\\
