\\
F.A. Aharonian, Xiao-na Sun, Rui-zhi Yang, "Energy distribution of relativistic electrons in the young supernova remnant G1.9+0.3", Astronomy & Astrophysics, Volume 603, 603, id.A107, 6 pp. The rate of shock acceleration is calculated based on the recent X-ray observations of this very young Supernova Remnant. \\
\\
F.A. Aharonian, S.V. Bogovalov, D. Khangulyan, "Abrupt acceleration of a `cold' ultrarelativistic wind from the Crab pulsar", Nature, Volume 482, pp. 507-509 (2012). The paper claims that the recent observations of pulsed, very high-energy gamma-ray emission from the Crab pulsar are explained by radiation of the ultrarelativistic wind of electron-positron pairs.\\
\\
The HITOMI collaboration, "The quiescent intracluster medium in the core of the Perseus cluster", Nature, Volume 535, Issue 7610, pp. 117-121 (2016). This revealed a surprising lack of turbulence in the hot cluster gas.\\
\\
The H.E.S.S. collaboration (FA as corresponding author), "Acceleration of petaelectronvolt protons in the Galactic Centre", Nature, Volume 531, Issue 7595, pp. 476-479 (2016). This is the first detection of a Galactic Pevatron and hints at a role for the Galactic Centre, and possibly its black hole, in the origin of cosmic rays. \\
\\
A. Taylor, S. Gabici and F. Aharonian, "Galactic halo origin of the neutrinos detected by IceCube", Physical Review D, Volume 89, Issue 10, id.103003 (2014). The surprisingly high flux of neutrinos seen by Icecube may have a Galactic halo component.\\
\\
F. Aharonian, "Gamma rays from supernova remnants", Astroparticle Physics, Volume 43, p. 71-80 (2013). This is a survey article from a special issue devoted to the science of the Cherenkov Telescope Array project.\\
\\
Y. Uchiyama, F.A. Aharonian, T. Tanaka, T. Takahashi, Y. Maeda, "Extremely fast acceleration of cosmic rays in a supernova remnant", Nature, 449, Issue 7162, pp. 576-578 (2007). The very short time-scale variability points to significant magnetic field amplification and shock acceleration operating at close to its theoretical maximum efficiency.\\
\\
L. Drury, F. Aharonian and H. Voelk, "The gamma-ray visibility of supernova remnants. A test of cosmic ray origin", Astronomy and Astrophysics, Vol. 287, p.959-971 (1994). This paper inspired key design features of the H.E.S.S. telescopes (southern location, wide field of view).\\
\\
F.A. Aharonian, R.A. Sunyaev, "Gamma-ray line emission, nuclear destruction and neutron production in hot astrophysical plasmas - The deuterium boiler as a gamma-ray source", MNRAS, Volume 210, pp. 257-277 (1984).\\
