__Research interests:__ classical and quantum chaos, nonlinear dynamics, quantum mechanics, quantum information processing, random matrices, combinatorial physics, operator theory linear algebra, higher rank numerical range and numerical shadow. Other papers  and popular articles on bibliometry and organization of science.  \\
\\
__Main works:__  book Geometry of Quantum States by I. Bengtsson and K. Życzkowski, Cambridge University Press, 2006  and a paper on the structure of the set of entangled states quoted jointly more than 1000 times, other 150 papers gained more than 3000 citations,  h = 32. Collaborated with 134 scientists from 19 countries.\\

Organised 11 international workshops, one in Oberwolfach, one in Marseille, participated in 147 conferences, presented 105 talks and 19 posters. Coordinated 9 research grants, participated in other 10 grants,  lead the Polish node of a German SFB-Transregio project. Member of two Editorial Boards (J. Phys. A, Open Systems & Information Dynamics), three Scientific Councils and panels evaluating ERC Advanced Grants (3 times). Supervised 16 Master thesis and 5 Ph.D. thesis, 3 other are in progress.\\
\\
Works on voting theory.  With Wojciech Słomczyński he coauthored a voting system for  the Council of the European Union (2004,2007) based on the Penrose Square Root Law and called “Jagiellonian Compromise”. With Marek Cichocki edited a book “Institutional Design and Voting Power in the European Union” published by Ashgate Publishing in 2010.\\
