\\ \\
Born in Düsseldorf (Germany) in 1936, Jürgen Mittelstrass has been Professor of Philosophy and Philosophy of Science at the University of Constance since 1990, as well as Director of its Center for Philosophy of Science. More than any other contemporary investigator he has brought home to European scientists the utility of philosophical contextualization for their own work.

Jürgen Mittelstraß will receive his award on May 3, 2013. He will give a public lecture on "Justice in an Ageing Society."
