__[Nicole Grobert|Member/Grobert_Nicole], Professor of nanomaterials at the University of Oxford and member of Chemical sciences section of Academia Europaea, has been elected Chair of the European Commission’s Group of Chief Scientific Advisors.__

The role of the [Group of Chief Scientific Advisors|https://ec.europa.eu/info/research-and-innovation/strategy/support-policy-making/scientific-support-eu-policies/group-chief-scientific-advisors_en#:~:text=%20Group%20of%20Chief%20Scientific%20Advisors%20%201,Scientific%20Advisors%20%E2%80%93%20September%202020%20%20More%20] (GCSA) is to provide independent scientific advice to the [European Commission|https://ec.europa.eu/info/index_en] across a diverse range of topics to inform policymaking and to provide recommendations to improve the interaction between policymaking and scientific advice.

Professor Nicole Grobert will succeed [Professor Rolf-Dieter Heuer|Member/Heuer_Rolf-Dieter], also a member of Academia Europaea.

!About Professor Nicole Grobert MAE

Nicole Grobert is Professor of Nanomaterials and Associate Head of Department (Research) in the Department of Materials at the [University of Oxford|https://www.ox.ac.uk]. Her fields of scholarship include nanomaterials, nanotubes, nanoparticles, 2D materials, hierarchical nanostructures, materials engineering, composite materials, thermal management, energy applications and microscopy. Professor Grobert became a chief scientific advisor to the EC in 2018, the same year she became a  member of Academia Europaea in the section of [Chemical Sciences|Acad_Main/Sections/Chemical_sciences].
