!Erasmus Medal 2025 – Awarded to László Lovász MAE

We are delighted to announce that the [2025 Erasmus Medal|Acad_Main/Activities/Awards_and_Prizes/Erasmus_Medal] will be awarded to [Professor László Lovász|Member/Lovász_László] MAE, mathematician, past Academic Director of the __Academia Europaea__ [Budapest Knowledge Hub|https://mta.hu/aebudapest] and former President of the [Hungarian Academy of Sciences|https://mta.hu/english]. Prof. Lovász is also recipient of the AE Barcelona Hypatia Prize (2019).

First awarded to [János Kornai|Member/Kornai_János] at the fourth Annual Meeting in Budapest in 1992, the Erasmus Medal has become a highlight of Academia Europaea’s annual conference. It celebrates lifetime scholarly excellence, achievement, and impact, with past recipients including Nobel Laureates [Paul Crutzen|Member/Crutzen_Paul], [Harold Kroto|Member/Kroto_Harold], and [Bert Sakmann|Member/Sakmann_Bert].

Professor Lovász will receive the Medal at the AE Annual Conference, [Building Bridges|https://aebarcelona.eu/en/building-bridges-2025], in Barcelona in October. The laudation will be delivered by [Professor Janos Pach|Member/Pach_János] MAE.

!Advanced Adam Kondorosi Prize for Plant Sciences 2025 – Awarded to Jens Stougaard MAE

We are pleased to announce that the [2025 Advanced Adam Kondorosi Prize|Acad_Main/Activities/Awards_and_Prizes/The_AE-Adam_Kondorosi_Prize] for Plant Sciences will be awarded to [Professor Jens Stougaard|Member/Stougaard_Jens] MAE.

Established in 2016, this prize commemorates the pioneering work of the late [Professor Adam Kondorosi|Member/Kondorosi_Adam] MAE in plant-microbe interactions and symbiotic nitrogen fixation. It recognises landmark research that has significantly advanced scientific understanding in these fields.
\\ \\
The Prize will be formally awarded at the [European Nitrogen Fixation conference|https://web.cvent.com/event/aa2ad978-6a8e-4c90-8d6b-63fd30ac8447/summary] in Oxford this August. Professor Stougaard will also deliver the Adam Kondorosi Award Lecture at the [AE Annual Conference|https://aebarcelona.eu/en/building-bridges-2025] in Barcelona in October.

!Sydney Brenner Medal 2025 – Awarded to Markus Ralser

The [2025 Sydney Brenner Medal|Acad_Main/Activities/Awards_and_Prizes/Sydney_Brenner_Medal] will be awarded to __Professor Markus Ralser__, Director of the Institute and Group Leader in Biochemistry and Systems Biology of Metabolism at [Charité Universitätsmedizin|https://www.charite.de] Berlin, Germany.

Established in 2022 by the Class of Life Sciences (Class C), the Medal honours the legacy of one of __Academia Europaea__’s founding members - [Sydney Brenner|Member/Brenner_Sydney]. It celebrates exceptional scholarship and personal achievement within 20 years of obtaining a PhD (with allowance for career breaks), in the field of molecular biology and related disciplines.
\\ \\
__Professor Ralser__ will receive the Medal at [Building Bridges|https://aebarcelona.eu/en/building-bridges-2025]. The laudation will be given by [Professor Kathryn Lilley|Member/Lilley_Kathryn] MAE.
