!!Research Management Competences of the Academic Community\\Study cooordinated by the Polytechnic University of Bragança (Portugal), with the support of the University of Bologna (Italy)

The general objective is to implement a robust diagnostic instrument to assess the research management competencies of academics. Modern research management is a multifaceted activity requiring a wide range of skills. However, research institutions often lack robust and standardised diagnostic tools to evaluate the competencies of their researchers, professors and support staff. Generic self-assessments are frequently subjective and susceptible to bias. This project directly addresses this gap by transforming the subjective evaluation of competences into an objective, strategic, and evidence-based analysis.

The survey instrument assesses sub-competencies across eight core areas, including Cognitive Abilities, Technical Proficiency, Subject Matter Expertise (such as Pre-Award, Post-Award, and Research Ethics), and Stakeholder Engagement. The utility of the results is the primary factor in the project's relevance. Participation yields data that serves multiple purposes. The survey functions as a __diagnostic tool for individual professional development__, enabling participants to engage in structured self-reflection on their competencies. The analysis will identify __priority areas for training__ by crossing proficiency data with the importance of each skill for the respondent's role. This __helps institutions design targeted, effective development programs__. The data can inform strategic planning by identifying institution-wide strengths and critical skill gaps.

The estimated time to complete the detailed survey is __10 to 15 minutes__. Participation is completely voluntary. __The highest level of anonymity and confidentiality is guaranteed__.
