__To mark its centenary, the [International Committee of Historical Sciences – Comité International des Sciences Historiques|https://www.cish.org/index.php/en] CISH/ICHS proclaims 2026 the Year of History, and holds a major conference at the University of Leipzig: [CISH 2026: The Past, the Present, and the Future of History|https://www.cish.org/index.php/en/2024/12/20/celebration-of-cishs-100th-anniversary]. The CISH comprises 54 national committees, and 27 international organizations.__

The CISH centennial conference celebrates 100 years of international cooperation in the historical sciences since the foundation of the CISH in Geneva on May 14, 1926. More than 700 speakers, 60 panels, and 10 special events, in the organizers’ own words, “explore the developments, dynamics, and diversification the historical sciences have undergone over the past decades while also fostering inspiration for future research and innovation”.

Many participants in the CISH Centennial Conference are members of __Academia Europaea__, starting with the local organizer, [Professor Matthias Middell|Member/Middell_Matthias] MAE. Prof. Middell is also a member of the CISH Board, alongside [Professor Fernando Tortarolo|Member/Tortarolo_Edoardo] MAE, the General Secretary of CISH.

The Plenary Session on the Topic of the Conference (28 August 2026, 16:30 - 18:00, House 1 HS015, Campus Jahnallee, Leibzig), is moderated by Matthias Middell and features four historians: __Ruth Mostern__ (Pittsburgh), __Steffi Marung__ (Leipzig), __Jie-Hyun Lim__ (Sogang), [Sorin Antohi|Member/Antohi_Sorin] MAE, former member of the CISH Board.
