  • 1960-1966 study of human medicine in Berlin and Göttingen
  • 1966 Qualification exam for human medicine at the Free University in Berlin. Thesis (Medical Doctor): "Micropuncture studies and electrical potential difference measuremtns in human sweat glands" at the Institute of Physiology (Free University of Berlin) with Prof. Dr. K. J. Ullrich
  • 1966 – 1967 Postdoctoral fellow, National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, USA. Studies on sweat secretion in cystic fibrosis patients in the laboratories of Dr. J. Orloff (National Heart Institute) and Dr. P. Sant Agnese (National Institute of Arthritis and Metabolic Diseases)
  • 1967-1991 Max-Planck-Institute für Biophysik in Frankfurt (Main), working on the mechanism of HCO3- and enzyme secretion in the exocrine pancreas. Appointment at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University in Frankfurt (Main) for training of medical students (practical courses in Physiology).
