Peter Scheepers - Biography#


Prof. Peer Scheepers has published in a wide range of top ranking journals in the respective fields (generally: .5 < IF < 2; journals with IF > 2 are explicitly mentioned), building multi-disciplinary theoretical insights rigorously tested with advanced methodology, foremost in the domains of sociology and methodology (European Sociological Review, Social Science Research, Acta Sociologica, Ethnic and Racial Studies, Journal of Social Studies, Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, Sociology of Health and Illness, the Sociological Quarterly), but also in political science (Political Science, European Journal of Political Research, European Union Politics, East European Politics and Societies, Scandinavian Political Studies, European Societies), and in the medical sciences (British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (IF: 3.76), Journal of Advanced Nursing, International Journal of Clinical Practice (IF: 2.43), International Journal of Childbirth, Midwifery), as in psychology (European Journal of Social Psychology, Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, Journal of Adolescence, Political Psychology, Personality and Individual Differences) and communication science (International Communication Gazette, Communications, Journal of Broadcasting and Electronic Media, Journal of Media and Religion) and finally in criminology (European Journal of Criminology).

Over 350 publications have been published by Peer Scheepers: 140 international publications (over 110 in peer reviewed international journals plus over 30 contributions to books published by international publishers) and over 90 national publications (over 50 in peer reviewed national journals plus over 40 contributions to books by national publishers); moreover, 11 books and 13 data documentations on data sources available to the social science community via DANS / KNAW; plus over 70 professional publications. Peer Scheepers has organized large-scale data collections, provided to the social science community in the Netherlands, in Europe and abroad, in Central America and South-East Asia. These collections are distributed by Data Archiving and Networked Services (DANS). DANS promotes sustained access to digital research data. Thereby, not only scientific integrity has been served, but also numerous replications have been made possible. These data collections have been made possible due to subsidies from the Ministry of Education, NWO, more specifically from the branch on longitudinal studies in social and behavioral sciences (subsidy: 481-08-010) and by funding made available by the Faculty of Social Sciences of Radboud University. Data- and documentation files belonging to the longitudinal survey collections ‘Religion in Dutch Society’ are available in the DANS online archiving system EASY http://easy.dans.knaw.nl.
