! Relaxing
Here are three pictures of my favorite way to relax (ha-ha!). A nice bungy-jump, here in Skipper Canyon, NZ.\\

! Plagiarizing myself

[{Image src='Hologkomp.jpg' caption='Maurer talks with two holo-copies of himself' width='600' class='image_left' alt='Hologkomp.jpg'}] One of my most interesting appearences was in May 2009, when I gave a talk during which I had a discussion with two holographic copies of myself! It was a complex technical set-up done by my friend and co-researcher Wolfgang Schinagl, but it was also lots of work for me: since the two holograms clearly were "canned", the interaction between them and myself had to be timed to the second, possible only through many repetititons of the scenes!

! In a flying car
[{Image src='Maurer-with-his-Skycar.JPG' caption='Getting into a Moller' height='300' class= 'image_left' alt='Maurer-with-his-Skycar'}][{Image src='Gio-Hermann-flying.jpg' caption='With Gio Wiederhold from Stanford flying in the Moller (Photoshop works well, right?)' height='300' class= 'image_left' alt='Gio-Hermann-flying.jpg'}] Did you know that such vehicles actually exist? They can drive on roads; they can take off and land vertically. Produced in Davis, California, by [Moller|http://www.moller.com] they are permitted on roads, but still have not been approved for flying and might never be!
