Professor Kimber is currently Professor of Toxicology and Associate Dean for Business Development in the Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Manchester, UK. Prior to this position he held a variety of senior posts in industry and academia.\\
\\
He has broad research interests in toxicology, immunology, allergy, skin biology and inflammation.\\
\\
Professor Kimber has published 527 peer reviewed original research papers and review articles. He has also published more than 100 book chapters and has written/edited 6 books. He has also authored or coauthored more than 1600 presentations at national and international congresses, symposia, colloquia and workshops.\\
\\
He currently serves on the editorial boards of 11 journals that span toxicology, immunology, pathology and dermatology\\
\\
Professor Kimber has won a number of prestigious scientific awards (listed elsewhere), and in 2011 was appointed OBE for services to science in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.\\
\\
He has made a number of seminal discoveries in toxicology and immunology and has a number of patents. He also invented the local lymph node assay - currently the international gold standard for the identification of allergenic chemicals.\\
\\
Professor Kimber holds, and has held, a variety of positions on national and international boards, panels and expert and scientific advisory committees. These include Member UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) Devices Expert Advisory Committee, and Committee for Safety of Devices (2001- ), Programme Advisor for Food Allergy and Intolerance, Food Standards Agency (2000- ), Member Scientific Advisory Board National Institute for Biological Standards and Control (2012- ), Chairman of the Board UK National Centre for the Replacement, Refinement and Reduction of Animals in Research (NC3Rs) (2008-2013), Member Board NC3Rs (2008- ), Chair NC3Rs Project Grant Panel (2013-2016), Member Medical Research Council Translational Research Group (2012- ), and President British Toxicology Society (2012-2014).
