Prof F. Di Lisa has followed a pathway rather unusual in Italy as he begun with a classical MD followed by a specilaization and residency in Cardiology. Then he decided to turn to biomedical research on the relation between cardiology and mitochondria. His has an unusual knowledge of metabolic and physiological biochemistry.
