Cristina D'Ancona - Curriculum Vitae#


Graduated at Pisa University in History of Mediaeval Philosophy, Cristina D'Ancona obtained a PhD in 1989. She was researcher in History of Ancient Philosophy at Padua University (1994-2003), where she organized Plotinus Colloquia and was engaged in the project "Plotino greo-arabo" with editions, translations and commentaries. Since 2004 she was researcher at Pisa University, where she taught History of Medieval Arabic Philosophy.
She wrote the following books:
1) Tommaso d’Aquino. Commento al Libro delle Cause, traduzione, introduzione e note, Rusconi, Milano 1986.
2) Recherches sur le Liber de Causis, Vrin, Paris 1995.
3) La Casa della Sapienza. La trasmissione della metafisica greca e la formazione della filosofia araba, Guerini e associati, Milano 1996.
4) Plotino, La discesa dell’anima nei corpi (IV 8[6]]). Plotiniana Arabica (Teologia di Aristotele, I e VII; “Detti del Sapiente Greco”), a cura di C. D’Ancona, Pubblicazioni del Centro per Ricerche in Filosofia Medievale “Carlo Giacon”, 4, Il Poligrafo, Padova 2003 (in collaboration).
5) Storia della filosofia nell’Islam medievale, a cura di Cristina D’Ancona, Einaudi, Torino 2005 (in collaboration); and more than 80 articles and chapters in collected volumes.
She is now associate professor of History of Mediaeval Philosophy, and teaches also History of Medieval Arabic Philosophy and History of Late-Greek philosophy.
She has organized numerous important scientific meetings and cooperates with international research-nets. Se has been invited in dozens of inernational congesses and symposia.
