- July 2001- Executive Secretary (60%) to the Academia Europaea (The Academy of Europe www.acadeuro.org
); providing CEO services to the trustees, Board and Council of this international (pan-European) academic charity of 2500 elected members. Provision of project management, membership and all administrative support functions and compliance with legal requirements of UK charity law. Fundraising and representation on behalf of the organisation. Development of new opportunities and organisation of events in support of the charitable objectives. Annual turnover £300,000.
- August 2000 - Self-employed consultancy: trading as “Research Synergy Consulting”. Providing public and private sector organisations with research and studies for strategic science policy development; advice and assistance on research project development, funding opportunities; programme and network management, project concept design and delivery; administrative support; organisational representation and advocacy services.
