  • Since 2001 Full Professor of Literatures in English in the Department of English at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana in Slovenia

  • Since 2004 Head of the American Studies Interdisciplinary PhD Programme at the Faculty of Arts/Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana
  • Since 1998 Associate and Executive Editor of the international scholarly literary studies journal Acta neophilologica (published by the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana)
  • Member of the editorial board of the international scholarly journal The Journal of Language, Literature and Culture (AHCI, published by Australasian Language and Literature Association/Maney Publishing, UK)
  • Member of the editorial board of the scholarly interdisciplinary journal TransPostCross, published by the University of Bologna, Italy
  • Member of the editorial board of the scholarly journal Il Tolomeo, published by the University of Venice in Italy.

  • Member and President of the Scientific committee awarding the National Prize for Theses on Slovenian Emigration and Across-Border Space, nominated annually by the Minister for Slovenians Abroad of the Republic of Slovenia (8 years)
  • 2005 Recipient of the Faculty Enrichment Programme Award by the ICCS (International Council for Canadian Studies), the Government of Canada
  • 2004 Member of IAUPE (The International Association of University Professors of English)
  • 1996 Research Fellow at the University of Sydney/Department of English, recipient of a research grant from the Australian government
  • 1994 French/European Commission research grant of the Robert Schumann Foundation
