Academia Europaea announces with profound sadness the passing away of Professor Rita Levi-Montalcini, Nobel Laureate, at the age of 103 on December 30, 2012. Prof. Levi-Montalcini had been the oldest living Nobel laureate and was the first ever to reach a 100th birthday.
