The Royal Society of Chemistry has honoured Professor Peter Day by naming one of the Awards to be given by its newly established Materials Chemistry Division the ‘Peter Day Award’. This recognises his own contributions to this newly emerging subject and his part in securing its recognition as a distinct discipline among the chemical sciences. Also, to acknowledge Prof. Day’s efforts to secure a place for Materials Chemistry within the global family of chemical sciences, the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry has elected him a Fellow.

Academia Europaea congratulates Prof. Day to this distinction.
